Her Story

A few words about the woman we were so lucky to have.

Audrey, known to us as Mam, Nan, Nanny, anything but Granny, was the heart and the head of our family. She was the one who perhaps unknowingly held everyone together. Family was her whole world, and it was a big one: her children, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren, four generations who all knew the very same thing, that she loved them completely.

She was a tough cookie, and we all loved that about her. She didn't stand for any rubbish and she always spoke her mind. But there was always a cuddle and a warm welcome, and all the time in the world for you. She looked after everyone and worried about everyone, yet she never wanted anyone worrying about her, or making a fuss. She put herself last and asked for nothing in return, and to be around her was to feel looked after.

She was never one to sit on the sidelines. She was always up for playing, down on the floor with the little ones, aboard the tractor, into the daft photobooth hats and every game going. She loved her food and a good time, and in her earlier years she was known for her lovely chocolate cakes. She never missed a family party or a BBQ, and every room was warmer for having her in it. That's how we'll remember her: laughing, surrounded by the people she loved, with a little one on her lap.

She loved everyone, and everyone felt it.

This page is for all of us to keep telling her story. Whatever she meant to you, whether a memory, a photograph, or a few words, there's room for it here.
